First and foremost, I must say that attempting to grasp the concept of the future regarding our ever-changing sources of technology is pretty difficult for me. Technology continues to advance at such an amazing rate, it is hard for me to fathom where it can go from here. Can we possibly continue at this rate into infinity? I just can't get it. Nope.
When specifically speaking of e-learning, I do believe that this concept will continue to grow and improve in the future. I feel that somehow the barriers that often-times hinder social interaction during e-learning courses will be broken down. Online courses will become more personable as new tools are developed and utilized that enable us to become more acquainted with the Teachers and Learners. I am basically ashamed to admit that I probably can't identify two of the twenty (or more) online instructors I have learned from. I certainly couldn't pick out their faces in a crowd either. This is a problem, because I am undoubtedly more likely to succeed if I have a personal connection with an instructor. I'm not saying this is true for every student, but for me, it is. So, I see this improving as time passes, making e-learning even more effective and successful in the future.
I also agree with one of the speakers from a video who explained that mobile learning will skyrocket, especially as new tablets, phones and applications surface. We're all on the run for various purposes and mobile education will be required to fit the needs of the upcoming generation. I don't like being banished to my computer screen to constantly complete work. I have places to be and I am just fascinated at the thought of mobile learning growing to fit the needs of the learners. Score!
Overall, I just can't wait to see how e-learning progresses. We are in the middle of an amazing era in the field of educational technology. It is hard to say where things will go from here!
Toni,
ReplyDeleteI agree that e-learning is going to advance more and more dramatically in the future with more gadgets and gizmos being developed and expansion of current devices. It will be amazing to see in even 5 to 10 years how education changes.
